ImageBAPTISM:

Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children… Acts 2. 18 &19.

We baptise adults, young people and infants, following the sacramental practice of the early Church and most Christians today. We recognise that some people have scruples about baptising infants, but we respect one another in this.
Young people and adults should understand and profess the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord before baptism.
We believe that baptism is for believers and for the children of believing parents. In bringing their infants to baptism, Christian parents confess Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. They also promise to teach their children the truths and responsibilities of the Christian faith and to bring them up in the life and worship of the church.
We seek to baptise with integrity and do not see baptism as being simply a social or religious convention, a naming ceremony or an act of religious superstition.
A baptismal request should be made to the minister at the earliest.
Where a church member has been absent from worship for a long time, the request will be made that a new commitment to Christ and his church be made and that regular worship be entered into before a date is considered for a baptism.

ImageTHANKSGIVING:

Where parents are not as yet believing Christians, who know and love the Lord Jesus Christ, but who would like to present their child for thanksgiving and blessing, we welcome all. In this act of thanksgiving, we will seek to share with parents what God would like to bring to their child’s life and we will encourage you to come among us and learn with us the ways of God for our lives.

ImageCOMMUNION:

“Do this in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians.11. 24).

Communion is open to all who love the Lord Jesus Christ.  There are four regular services of communion in a year.

Where a child knows and loves the Lord Jesus, and where the Christian parent(s) (having given Christian teaching to their child) are happy for their child to participate in the Lord’s supper, they may sit together for participation in the sacrament of communion.

ImageMARRIAGE:

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” (Genesis 2.24).

Members of the community are welcome to get married in the church, and would normally attend preparation sessions with the minister or other members of the fellowship. There is a fee for use of the church (which includes payment to organist and church officer).
We would welcome enquirers about weddings to come along to our church services, so that they may know what difference God can make in a marriage and to allow us all to get to know you and for you to become at home among us.
While the Church of Scotland teaches that covenant love, faith in Christ, wisdom about relationships, and sexual abstinence are the best ways to approach marriage, we recognise that some people may be already living together, and would like to be married in church. We would be happy to talk things through with you and to share with you how God and His word can be of help to you.
Where people wish to remarry after divorce, we are required by the Church to discuss the background with the persons concerned, and make sure that the past has been addressed  before proceeding with a new marriage.

ImageFUNERALS:

“I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11.25).

Funerals may take place in the church. The minister should be consulted directly or through the undertaker.
2 praise items would normally be chosen. Suggestions can be made if required.
Hymn sheets can be printed by the undertaker ( Rayna Lumsden- Ph: 730360- may also be consulted if you would like a simple photocopied hymn sheet). Copies of the church hymnary (CH4) are also available.
A donation is invited, plus fees for the organist and church officer.
